About the Wendy’s WeCare Fund
Our founder, Dave Thomas, believed that everyone has an obligation to put back into life more than what they take out. He taught us to treat people with respect, do the right thing, and give something back. The commitment to these values applies to not only our customers and our communities, but to all those employed within the Wendy’s family.
Wendy’s is proud to provide the WeCare Fund: an emergency assistance fund available to Company and franchise employees within the Wendy’s system. At this time, this fund is only designed to provide short-term financial assistance to employees who are experiencing a financial need due to federal or state/provincial declared natural disasters or state of emergencies. This program is administered by a third-party organization, but is entirely funded by The Wendy’s Company, franchise organizations, employees, and others affiliated with Wendy’s.
Eligible applicants must be a full-time or part-time employee of Wendy’s International, LLC or a Wendy’s franchise organization at the time of the event. Applicants must be employed for 90 days at the time of the event to be eligible for a grant and employment status will be verified. Eligible applicants may receive a maximum of one grant per lifetime.

Wendy’s WeCare Fund is administered by the Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF), an organization specializing in assisting corporations in creating emergency assistance and disaster relief funds for employees. Wendy’s wanted to benefit from the expertise of TCF to manage the process and provide experienced and dedicated resources to assist Company and franchise employees in need as a result of a natural disaster.
Program Guidelines
In the event of a natural disaster that causes a severe financial hardship, eligible individuals may apply for assistance with the following qualifications. All grants are subject to available funds. Note: Not all emergencies will warrant the maximum assistance.
- Natural Disaster
Assistance after a natural or localized disaster has destroyed the employee’s personal residence, rendered it unlivable or it is otherwise in need of costly repairs, in excess of insurance, after the disaster (hurricane, wildfire, flood, tornado, mudslide, etc.).- Amount of Grant: Up to $500 per declared disaster
- This fund is designed to provide short-term financial assistance to employees who are experiencing a financial need due to federally and state-declared natural disasters.
Examples of assistance include the following:
- Emergency living arrangements for evacuation (i.e. help paying for a hotel)
- Gift card to meet immediate needs during displacement (i.e. fuel, food, clothing while evacuated)
- Home repairs (i.e. helping with costs that insurance will not cover)
- Help paying for normal household bills if the disaster causes a large loss of income in the household (i.e. rent/mortgage, utilities, vehicle payment).
Note: To comply with IRS conditions, program guidelines restrict assistance to employees experiencing severe financial need due to specific unexpected, unavoidable emergencies which can be documented. While all emergencies and financial hardships are unfortunate, incidents outside of program guidelines cannot be approved.
Eligible applicants must be a full-time or part-time employee of Wendy’s International, LLC or a Wendy’s franchise organization and must be employed for 90 days at the time of the event. Eligible applicants may receive a maximum of one grant per lifetime. This fund is focused on federally and state-declared natural disasters.
Grants are provided to employees who are unable to meet their basic needs due to the emergency circumstances caused by the natural disaster. This funding is provided as charity and is not a loan requiring repayment. Common examples of funding include sending Visa cards to assist with basic needs, assistance with housing during an evacuation, and assistance repairing severe damage to the employee’s residence.
Employees should use available resources such as personal savings, assistance from family members, etc. before applying for assistance. If ineligible, TCF can refer applicants to other resources in their community.
Upon approval, grant recipients are typically mailed a check made payable to the vendor requesting payment (i.e. landlord, utility company, contractor, etc.). We understand that each situation is unique so please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
